Title: Ai Weiwei hits out over Lego \'censorship\'
Post by: Joe Jones on
Artist Ai Weiwei has accused Lego of \"censorship and discrimination\" after the company refused to let him to use its bricks in a new exhibition.
Lego refused a bulk order for bricks that were to be used in a new artwork about political dissidents as part of an exhibition in Melbourne, Australia.

I admire a company willing to turn down money based on it\'s believes.
Personally, I think they will have to be careful about what the message of his art work sends out. I assume this is what gives them the concern to refuse him, however anyone refusing Ai Weiwei anything seems to receive some form of wrath.

I think it\'s fair. I mean most political activism is not necessarily good or can have a bad outcome. There are many ways it could be interpreted if they sent it to him, even if they didn\'t endorse the sending (sent it based on an order in the system sort of thing) that could reflect badly on them and blame them for the bad repercussions because \"shouldn\'t they have known\"? So I think regardless of the outcome the fact that they chose to abstain from a political display is a good move on their part, even if there are other repercussions.
