Title: Supermoon lunar eclipse lights up night sky
Post by: Joe Jones on
People around the world have observed a rare celestial event, as a lunar eclipse coincided with a so-called \"supermoon\".A supermoon occurs when the Moon is in the closest part of its orbit to Earth, meaning it appears larger in the sky.The eclipse – which made the Moon appear red – has been visible in North America, South America, West Africa and Western Europe. This phenomenon was last observed in 1982 and will not be back before 2033 - which meant plenty of people took to their cameras and began snapping away at the sky.Did you take any photos of the supermoon? Are you into your astronomical photography, artwork and fiction? Let Poetry & Art! know!

I watched a documentary on Netflix a few days back, then news came about this. Supposedly there\'s bases/foundations formed on the moon which are being ignored!
That said, I didn\'t get to see it but I did walk back with my family the same night and noticed how it was a full moon.
There\'s more full moons than I recall as a child and I spent the majority of time outside in parents back garden as a kid, always looking at the stars (when I wasn\'t playing football). I also saw some pictures being shared on social media, so hopefully more folks on here will share their pictures inside here.
Would be nice to discuss.

I have also seen some awesome images of the supermoon, people near me called it the bloodmoon?
I do not take any pictures tho.

I saw the supermoon through my bedroom window which was particularly beautiful but somewhat annoying. The eclipse woke me later as was suddenly rather dark but sadly rather cloudy so missed the bloodmoon.I did witness one shortly after my eldest daughter was born and quite frankly it freaked the hell out of me! Could have been the post pregnancy hormones at work but I can totally get how such a phenomenon could be seen as a harbringer of doom.

I did want to see it, but as i had to get up early in the morning to take the kids to school, i missed it. I saw the solar eclipse years ago in cornwall... which was great.. but completely different to this one.
